QoQa, Switzerland's leading online community website, would probably never have been able to pass the 90 million turnover mark in 2018 if they did not have the opportunity to implement an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and outsource their IT infrastructure. Every day, the champion of e-commerce in the French-speaking part of Switzerland puts a product on sale for 24 hours, according to the principle of "1 day, 1 deal". "Our website often creates media buzz and causes real traffic spikes," explains Gaëtan Sauser, product owner and project manager for the ERP integration. The company, which was founded in 2005 and now has more than 700.000 "QoQasians", has successfully coped with increasing demand until 2013. But the grown structures reached their limits with increasing sales and membership figures.
A long-term collaboration is born
The implementation of a business management tool was therefore essential. So QoQa launched a call for tenders to find a partner for implementing an ERP solution that could best meet their needs: the management of after-sales service, purchasing, sales, logistics and accounting. Camptocamp impressed them with their approach: "Instead of giving us a detailed offer that was calculated to the cent but obviously wrong, as many others do, they told us that they first needed to understand how we work," says Gaëtan Sauser. After spending a week observing the different trades, "Camptocamp set up a prototype very close to our reality. They took the time to understand our needs, and then proposed a suitable solution," continues Gaëtan Sauser.
Odoo, a solution integrated by Camptocamp
QoQa decided to implement Odoo, an all-in-one and customizable ERP solution with many integrated modules. A close collaboration was born between Camptocamp and QoQa both at the project manager and technical level. Camptocamp helped QoQa enormously in terms of methodology, to implement this project without rushing the steps and taking care to form strong teams. Even today, Camtocamp still supports QoQa for the regular update of the tool.
In 2015, when the servers reached their limits, a solution had to be found to increase the capacity of the infrastructure: it was quite natural that QoQa turned to Camptocamp to migrate its servers to the Cloud hosting platform Amazon AWS.
The day of the first migration in 2017 was the biggest challenge in the history of the collaboration between QoQa and Camptocamp, says Joann Dobler, product owner and infrastructure manager: "We all struggled and gave a lot, as QoQa was simultaneously building its new cloud infrastructure and a new architecture for its front-end and back-end applications. Camptocamp committed a lot of resources and did a fantastic job."
A promising success story
Overall, the project with Camptocamp was a great success at the strategic level, as it allowed us to structure the business processes and share information internally, while still being able to continue to successfully develop QoQa's own business model: "Everything was completed successfully, without having to close the sites, and therefore without any negative impact on sales, which was the biggest risk", concludes. "Problems are always discussed frankly. There is no doubt that this cooperation will continue, and Camptocamp will soon be our neighbour in the new building we are constructing," says Joann Dobler.
The community-based e-commerce company QoQa was founded in 2005 by Pascal Meyer in the French speaking part of Switzerland. Their concept is to sell a product every day at a bargain price. At present, the company's turnover exceeds 90 million. The community has around 700,000 members, "QoQasiens", and is constantly growing. New sites have been integrated, such as Qwine, Qsport, Qooking, Qids and Qbeer.
