The Container & Cloud-Native Roadshow will be held completely virtual on the 29th of September 2020 for Switzerland and Germany, and  is a unique hands-on experience for building, deploying, and managing containerized cloud-native applications using industry-standard open source technologies.

Virtual Workshop

In collaboration with Red Hat we are offering an event focused on educating and enabling attendees to learn how Red Hat OpenShift is changing the way to run mission-critical applications.

The event is free of charge, will be held in English and will be splitted into two tracks. 

The DEV Track which is for Developers, DevOps Engineers and Application Architects
and the OPS Track, which is for Directors, Infrastructure Architects, Infrastructure Specialist and Enterprise Architects.

Followed a short overview of the different topics, the needed skills and the requirements of both tracks:
 

DEV TRACK

 

  • Introduction to cloud-native applications
  • Building microservices with Wildfly Swarm, Spring Boot, and Eclipse Vert.x
  • Increasing developer productivity with containers
  • Resilient and fault-tolerant microservices' continuous integration and continuous delivery

DEV participants are expected to be familiar with general application development concepts and have basic skills with the following:

  • Java programming
  • Apache Maven build tool
  • Linux command line
  • Containers and Docker

Requirements:

  • A modern browser with Javascript and cookies enabled.

 

OPS TRACK

 

  • OpenShift and container-native storage fundamentals
  • Introduction to OpenShift platform management
  • Introduction to application management on OpenShift
  • Application storage management with container-native storage

OPS participants should have a systems administration / storage / operations focus, with the following suggested tools and/or skills:

  • An SSH client on your laptop (PuTTY for Windows preferred)
  • Competency on the Linux command line
  • A general/high-level understanding of Linux containers (e.g., Docker, CRI-O, etc.)

Requirements:

  • An SSH client is required with the ability to use private key authentication. Windows users are recommended to use PuTTY.

 

For all attendees a laptop with Windows, Linux, or MacOS is needed, and WiFi connection.

Red Hat Architect Solution Certified

Philippe Bürgisser is a seasoned IT engineer with a strong experience in IT infrastructure automation and cloud technologies. His mission as a Red Hat Architect Solution Certified at Camptocamp is to help customers to move to the containerized world orchestrated by OpenShift leveraging Ansible to automate their infrastructure. Starting his career as a Software Engineer, he quickly moved to the systems administration field where he can easily connect the two worlds following the DevOps paradigm. Holding the Red Hat Certified Architect certification (RHCA Level II), he has extensive knowledge of Red Hat’s wide product range.

Infrastructure Developer & Trainer

Raphaël Pinson (aka raphink) is infrastructure developer and trainer at camptocamp. He focuses on automation and the implementation of DevOps practices mainly in Puppet, Docker/Kubernetes/Openshift/Rancher and Terraform. He is also involved in the Voxpupuli, Augeas and Terraform communities.
