PostGIS is a module for PostgreSQL, allowing to add the spatial management, in terms of storing, handling and querying.
PostGIS is a solid, powerful and tested solution in many GIS projects.
PostGIS implements the SFS norm (Simple Feature for SQL) 1.1 of the OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium), while proposing numerous additional features as well.
