Camptocamp recently gathered then summarized some key requirements of its customers (wholesalers, online shops, retailers, distributors and trading companies) in order to develop new OpenERP features.
Since B2B and/or B2C product selling without transformation is typically used by these types of businesses, two of their primary concerns are the collection and the analysis of data on standard (i.e. theoretical) margins as well as on real (i.e. actual) margins.
Camptocamp now provides the following new modules:
- for each product, the computation of the standard margin, based on the current values of sale and cost price available in the product form (for amount either inclusive or exclusive of tax); this computation is fully operational in a multi-currency environment (product_standard_margin);
- for each product, the computation of the real margin (from customer invoices), based on the current values of standard margins at invoices‘ date, taking also into account possible changes in cost and sale prices over time; this module is fully operational in a multi-currency environment and works on amounts either inclusive or exclusive of tax (product_historical_margin);
- for each product, each product category and even the whole product catalog, the advanced analysis of both standard and real margins: for instance, users can open a list view of products (or groups of products) and get the real margins computed for a given period of time (product_historical_margin_report);
The first versions of the above modules have just been released and are made available for full download and testing on http://apps.openerp.com.
