Easily create, set up and roll out MapFish applications with MapFish Studio

Today, Camptocamp announced the release of MapFish Studio (beta version), an environment to manage MapFish Web GIS applications.

With MapFish Studio, any GIS specialist inexperienced with software application development, can create, setup and roll out mapping applications on the Web.

MapFish Studio is a component of MapFish, an open source framework for producing online mapping applications.

MapFish Studio offers a user-friendly interface allowing data access and selection for publication, data layers configuration for publication (symbology, etc.), MapFish components activation (search tool, layers editing, balloon help, printing, etc.), and the publication of a customized application on the Web.

Easy to install (use in SAAS mode possible), compatible with a wide range of browsers, multi-user and multi-function, MapFish Studio offers an ergonomic and pleasant controlling environment, benefiting from Web 2.0 technologies.

MapFish Studio proposes various symbology setting possibilities, based on and synchronized with the various versions of MapServer.

Within the framework of the project “GeoBretagne”, one of Camptocamp GIS project, MapFish Studio will use the administration tool of GeoServer (based on the same graphical components as MapFish's) rather than MapServer's. MapFish Studio can then offer an interface which is compatible with the 2 main Open Source cartographic engines on the market: MapServer and GeoServer.
